The Adult Ballet Dress Code is rooted in the traditions of classical ballet while warmly welcoming dancers of all experience levels.
Traditional ballet attire offers practical benefits for training while also supporting a deeper awareness of posture, alignment, and movement. In addition to developing technique, we invite dancers to immerse themselves in the culture, etiquette, and atmosphere of the ballet classroom. Through our attire, preparation, conduct, and attention to detail, we participate in a rich artistic tradition that has been passed from generation to generation. Many dancers find that embracing these practices cultivates a sense of focus, dignity, grace, presence, and respect for both the art form and one another.
We warmly invite dancers to explore this aspect of the ballet experience and to enjoy the opportunity to make an authentic connection with the traditions of classical ballet.

Hair should be secured away from the face whenever possible.
For safety and comfort, jewelry should be kept to a minimum. Small stud earrings and simple jewelry are generally acceptable, while large hoops, dangling earrings, watches, and other items that may interfere with movement are discouraged.
Dancers are asked to arrive in clean attire and maintain good personal hygiene out of consideration for fellow dancers and the shared studio environment.
Dancers new to ballet are welcome to attend in comfortable, fitted athletic clothing until they acquire dancewear. No one is expected to arrive perfectly outfitted or experienced.
Questions about attire are always welcome!
