Summer Intensive @ GVMCC
Our Summer Intensive is rooted in a culture of focus, respect, artistry, discipline, and care for the whole dancer. We ask all dancers and families to carefully review the following policies prior to the start of the program.
First Day Orientation
An orientation will take place on the first day of the Summer Intensive. Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend the beginning of orientation to help familiarize themselves with the program schedule, studio spaces, pick-up procedures, and designated waiting areas for families who arrive early to pick up younger dancers.
Attendance & Punctuality
Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes and arrive on time, prepared, and ready to begin promptly. Consistent attendance supports both individual growth and the collaborative nature of the intensive experience.
If a dancer will be absent or late, please notify the program as soon as possible.
Arrival & Pick-Up
Students should be dropped off and picked up promptly at the start/end of classes. Dancers are expected to remain within approved program areas during breaks and between classes.
Dress Code
Students are expected to follow the Summer Intensive dress code and arrive prepared with all required dancewear, shoes, and supplies. Hair should be secured neatly away from the face for all movement classes.
Please review the Dress Code & What to Bring document carefully prior to the start of the intensive.
Food, Hydration & Wellness
Dancers should bring enough water in a marked water bottle, nutritious snacks, and lunch as needed, for the day. We encourage students to care for their physical well-being through hydration, nourishment, rest, and respectful awareness of their bodies throughout the intensive.
Please notify the program in advance of any allergies, injuries, or medical concerns that may impact participation. If this information was already included on your registration form, no additional notification is necessary.
Studio Conduct
Students are expected to contribute to a respectful, focused, and supportive learning environment.
The following are not permitted during the program:
- Smoking, vaping, alcohol, or drug use
- Disruptive or unsafe behavior
- Gum chewing during classes
- Behavior that interferes with the safety or learning environment of others
NU Dance @ GVMCC reserves the right to dismiss a student from the intensive if conduct significantly disrupts the program environment or compromises safety.
Personal Belongings
Please label all personal belongings clearly. NU Dance @ GVMCC is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Tuition & Refund Policy
Tuition and registration fees help secure faculty, studio space, and program operations in advance and are therefore generally non-refundable.
Refund requests due to injury, illness, or extenuating circumstances may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of program administration.
Photography & Media
By participating in the Summer Intensive, families grant permission for photographs and video footage taken during classes, rehearsals, and performances to be used for educational, archival, and promotional purposes unless otherwise communicated in writing prior to the start of the program.
Liability Waiver
Participation in dance training involves physical activity and inherent risk. Families will be required to complete all registration forms, emergency contact information, and liability waivers prior to participation in the intensive.
Community Values
NU Dance @ GVMCC is committed to fostering an environment that supports excellence in training alongside respect, inclusivity, collaboration, curiosity, and care for one another. We ask all dancers and families to help uphold these values throughout the program.
