About the Show:
Nevada Union High School’s comprehensive dance program proudly presents its annual fall production, Fall for Dance, November 19–21, 2026, at the Don Baggett Theater.
Performances begin at 7:00 p.m. each evening and feature more than 150 dancers from beginning through advanced levels, along with guest performers from NU Dance Community Enrichment classes. Audiences will experience an exciting range of styles, including hip hop, jazz, modern, ballet, contemporary and fusion.
Tickets are $15, and all seating is reserved. Fall for Dance consistently sells out, so advance purchase is strongly recommended. Tickets are available at www.nevadauniondance.com/tickets. Any remaining tickets may be purchased with cash or check at the box office from 5:00–7:00 p.m. before each performance.
This year marks the first Fall for Dance production to feature original works by Nevada Union student choreographers. Six advanced dancers have created pieces that will be submitted for adjudication at the National High School Dance Festival, held March 6–10, 2027, at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The student choreography includes:
- Senior Amari Lucia, president of the NU Dance ASB Club, presents a modern ballet inspired by her lifelong connection to dance.
- Senior Charlotte des Tombe, vice president of NU Dance, presents a narrative contemporary work accompanied by original music she composed for the piece.
- Senior Abigail Tassone explores her earliest memory of performing onstage in a contemporary work set to “A Light That Waits” by The Fray.
- Senior Makenzie Paulus presents a heartfelt piece dedicated to her grandmother, set to Lyn Lapid’s “When She Loved Me.”
- Senior Tabitha Gillespie presents an upbeat modern-jazz fusion set to “Upside Down” by Jack Johnson. The coming-of-age work includes a special tribute to this year’s graduating senior class.
- Junior Clover Rashby makes her choreographic debut with an original hip hop work set to “LOVE.” by Kendrick Lamar.
The production also features original choreography by eight professional dance artists working with students throughout the Nevada Union Dance Program.
Varsity Dance Team Coach Daisy Mitchell brings back the crowd-pleasing Spiderman-themed hip hop dance originally created for Nevada Union’s fall homecoming rally. Mitchell also choreographed three additional works in hip hop, jazz fusion, and pom.
Assistant Director Toria Talbott contributes five new works spanning contemporary, modern and hip hop styles for dancers at all levels. Chanthou Lam, director of Connections Dance Project and an instructor at Nevada City School of the Arts, presents a house-style hip hop piece for the Advanced Dance class. Dancing sisters Sienna Riley and Gaia Weiss also collaborated to create a new modern dance work for the Advanced Dance class and will be choreographing on additional levels for the spring.
Students from Nevada Union’s All Abilities Dance class will perform two uplifting works: “We’re All in This Together” from High School Musical and “Better Place” by Justin Timberlake. Directed by Courtney Wadman, All Abilities Dance pairs students with moderate to severe special needs with their general education peers in a collaborative and inclusive dance experience.
Wadman has also created three additional pieces for the production: an upbeat hip hop work for beginning dancers, a country line dance to “Footloose” for the Intermediate Dance class, and a runway-inspired jazz piece for the Advanced Dance class.
Elizabeth Castañeda presents a Youth Dance Fusion piece featuring community enrichment students ages 8–13, assisted by NU Advanced Dance students Charlotte des Tombe and Tabitha Gillespie. Castañeda also collaborated with the Intermediate Dance class to create a contemporary work set to “Over” by Portishead.
Additional highlights include contemporary works for the Intermediate and Advanced Dance classes by Erin Reynolds, an accomplished choreographer and educator who holds an MFA in Dance and teaches at California State University, Chico and California State University, Sacramento.
After investing dozens of hours in after-school and weekend rehearsals, the dancers are ready to share an unforgettable evening of artistry, athleticism and inspiration. Fall for Dance celebrates the creativity, commitment and community spirit at the heart of Nevada Union Dance.
