Nevada Union High School Presents “Fall for Dance” — A Celebration of Movement, Creativity, and Community

Nevada Union High School’s award-winning dance program proudly presents its annual fall production, Fall for Dance, on November 20, 21, and 22, 2025 at 7:00 PM at the Don Baggett Theater, located at 11761 Ridge Road, Grass Valley, CA 95945.
Tickets are $15 each, and all seating is reserved. These shows consistently sell out, so advance purchase is strongly recommended. Tickets can be purchased online at www.nevadauniondance.com/tickets. Remaining tickets will be available for purchase at the box office from 5-7pm before the show. Cash or check only at the box office.
This year’s production features over 150 talented performers from all levels of the Nevada Union Dance Program—beginning through advanced—performing a dynamic variety of dance styles, including ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, and fusion. This show also includes guest performances by dancers from the community enrichment classes, which are open to the public for ages 8 through adult.
A highlight of the evening will be the inspiring performances by students from the “All Abilities” dance class, a collaborative program that pairs students with moderate to severe special needs with their general education peers. Under the direction of Courtney Wadman, these dancers will perform two uplifting pieces: “I’m Still Standing” by Elton John and “Happy” by Pharrell Williams.
The concert also features seven guest choreographers who have created original works for the show. Among them is Gaby Baldock, Director of Dance at Bear River High School, who contributed a breathtaking contemporary piece set to “In the Stars” by Benson Boone. Elizabeth Castaneda choreographed four new pieces for this show, including a striking contemporary ballet en pointe to Björk’s “Hunter.”Chanthou Lam, Director of Connections Dance Project and teacher at Nevada City School of the Arts, brings high energy with a hip hop piece performed by intermediate and advanced dancers.
Alumni (and dancing sisters) Sienna Riley and Gaia Weiss, both graduates of CSU Long Beach’s prestigious dance department, return to collaborate on a modern fusion piece for the intermediate dancers. Gaia has choreographed for the NU dance program for nearly twenty years, and she also worked with dancers from the beginning level class this semester.
The NU Dance Assistant Director, Toria Talbott, showcases her creative range with five original works in this production. The Nevada Union Varsity Dance Team, directed by Daisy Mitchell, will perform an upbeat pom routine that will also debut at upcoming basketball home games. Recently, the team had the unique opportunity to train and perform alongside the Sacramento Kings Dancers at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
The evening concludes with a spectacular, high-energy “Rio”-themed finale, choreographed by Daisy Mitchell for 36 dancers from the advanced class. This colorful and vibrant number, originally premiered at the NU fall homecoming rally, is sure to leave audiences cheering.
With dozens of hours of after-school and weekend rehearsals poured into this performance, Fall for Dance promises an unforgettable night of artistry, athleticism, and inspiration. Audiences of all ages will be moved by the passion, dedication, and talent on display.
